Sunday, March 19

Today we started with a lovely breakfast supplied by our hostess. We took some morning pictures of Wanaka Lake, filled up with petrol and hit the road about 9:45. Our mission was to drive to Franz Josef, a community on the western coast. It was a long day of driving, so we broke it up with picture taking, coffee and a 1.5 m walk.

On the recommendation of our scouting party ( Doug and Dianna) we stopped for a short hike in and out of the Blue Pools

We ate lunch at Pleasant flat recreation area. Fought off the sand flies (repellant) and enjoyed another great view.

We had beautiful weather most of the trip. Some coastal clouds came in at the beach but they cleared up.

Ended the day with a "city" walk and was greeted by a wonderful view out our front door.
