Today was suppose to have rain showers, so we stayed around town. We missed the raindrops and by 3:00 the sun was out and it was beautiful. We even went back to a few sights to get better pictures. We started out at the Botanical Gardens. The other day we had walked "by" the gardens, but today we actually walked through it. Beautiful layout. The government house, located at the edge of the gardens, is still used as a residence for the Govenor of New South Wales, when he/she comes to Sydney. Then on to museum number one ( after a coffee). Back to our room to rest our feet and have a snack. Then on to museum number two. Part of museum was housed in an old building  These were like 3D totem poles Since the sun came out, finally we resnapped some photos. Since the weather had turned so nice, we decided to walk the mile down to the quay to have dinner and enjoy the view. We finished dinner just as the sun was setting. We sat at the dock, talked to a nice couple from the Seattle a...

Due to a weather prediction of rain and thunderstorms in the Blue Mtns, we stayed close by.  (Slept in...we must have been tired.) We decided to do our ferry trip over to Manly. Before heading to the Quay, we stopped in at St Andrew's and found out about last night's bells. The bell choir practices on Monday nights. How about that                  We walked down George Street, which is a main business corridor.  We hopped on the ferry and 30 minutes later were in Manly. We found a coffee shop and then headed out for a walk/ hike.  First stop Manly beach followed by Shelly Beach.  Eastern Water dragon Then we got adventuresome.  The map had a "trail" that would take us over a viewing point and back to Manly. We experienced a variety of " trails", but did make it back to the wharf at Manly for a late lunch. (5.25 miles) The pictures show the variety of terrain and trails on our adventure.  View from the top Which w...

Walking, walking, walking. (About 4.5 miles today)Leisurely morning, a stop for some cough medicine and cough drops, (Dennis has been a bit under the weather), pick up an umbrella and we were off to walk in the rain and see Sydney. First stop was to see inside of St Mary's Cathedral.  Then down to the Circular Quay.  We stopped at the customs house and also picked up information at the "I" stop. We found a morning coffee and had a rest and wandered over to "The Rocks" area. Found the Cadman"s Cottage  and saw a HUGE cruise line docked and being loaded. The story about Mr Cadman was quite the story. He arrived as a prisoner, and ended up to to be the Harbor Master. Then back around the ferries at the quay and over to the Sydney Opera house.  We strolled around outside where there was a movie crew filming in the front court yard. The extras were all dressed in summer clothing.  (It had now stopped raining, but was still overcast) We had a tour at 12:00. Fasci...

Today was another travel day. We left Cairns and flew into Sydney.  Our flight was late leaving, but that wasn't an issue for us except we were hungry. We checked into  our hotel which is right by Hyde Park and Town Hall square. Found a Korean BBQ spot and felt revived.  Our waiter at the Korean BBQ We then walked around to get our bearings and take in a few of the sights. Stopped at Woolworths ( local grocery store chain) and picked up breakfast items. We're now settled in for the night and have made a plan for tomorrow.  St Andrew's ( Anglican) St Mary's Cathedral  Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park St Mary's Cathedral
